Connection Capital has appointed Stephen Catling as Head of Alternative Investments.
As well as having responsibility for overseeing alternative investment deal sourcing, execution and management, Stephen has a specific remit to spearhead Connections Capital’s co-investment activity and foster collaborative partnerships with private equity firms.
Stephen joins from Chamonix Private Equity where he was an Investment Director, responsible for acquisitions, disposals and portfolio management of the firm’s secondary direct funds. Earlier in his career, Stephen worked as an Investment Portfolio Manager for the telecoms giant Cable & Wireless, and for ABN AMRO in London and Tokyo as an equity analyst.
His appointment is part of Connection Capital’s strategic plan to foster closer links with other private equity houses, to act as a co-investment partner and provide solutions to funding issues by establishing themselves as a flexible and innovative source of investment capital.
Claire Madden, Partner at Connection Capital says,
“Our investment model to date has seen us generally take a lead investor and deal manager role, sourcing, negotiating and overseeing private equity investments ourselves on behalf of our client base of experienced, sophisticated private investors.”
“Increasingly we are seeing opportunities to partner with other high quality private equity players, either to participate in their deals or to provide them with innovative, flexible funding solutions, for instance by providing vital mezzanine finance or acting as a unique provider of capital to “fundless” PE houses.”
