What is a Management buyout?

Management buyout (MBO) explained

Looking to invest?

A management buyout (MBO) is where a company's managers purchase part or all of the equity in the company from the existing owners.

Due to the costs of purchasing a business it is usual that the buyers seek external funding and raise capital from institutional investors, such as private equity firms, who invest alongside the senior management team to complete the transaction.

At Connection Capital we provide funding to enable management buyouts at profitable UK SMEs in the lower mid market. This is typically companies generating revenues of between c£5m and £50m.

We have funded MBOs at companies across a range of sectors including financial services, leisure, retail, edtech and insurance.
