Connection Capital host annual management team retreat in Gleneagles
As part of working with the leadership of our portfolio companies, each year we think it’s important to remove them from the settings of their day to day business and give them the opportunity to hear from other entrepreneurs and inspirational speakers. We find this distance helps create perspective with which to look back and think about the future plans for their business.
On the 9th and 10th of October we held our 3rd annual retreat at the illustrious Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland. Building on the success of previous CEO retreats we extended the invitation to include CFOs and non-exec chairs of our investee companies.
A total of 45 delegates over the two days enjoyed key note speakers, workshops, a private dinner and a chance to sample some of Gleneagles activities including rounds of golf on the Kings and Queens courses. The workshops covered: executive coaching, value creation and human capital planning, KPIs and preparing your business for exit. These were accompanied by a wine tasting session, hosted by Jay Wright (CEO of portfolio company Virgin Wines) and a coffee tasting class led by 23.5 Degrees (a Starbucks franchisee and CC portfolio company).
Overall it was a fun and thought-provoking couple of days in Scotland. Many thanks to all who attended and a very special thanks to our speakers: Bernard Dale, Paul Pinson, Craig Nicol, Jon Andrew, Jackie Bowie, Scott Barham, Mike Coupland, John Cleland and Alistair Hardie. We’re looking forward to aiding our portfolio companies in implementing their learnings from the retreat and we’re excited for the future ahead.
