The milestone follows Connection Capital’s initial investment to support MatOrtho’s international growth and innovation in 2021.
Connection Capital portfolio company MatOrtho has achieved a major regulatory milestone with the award of the CE mark for its ReCerf® Ceramic Hip Resurfacing System. This approval paves the way for wider UK and European distribution, supporting the company’s growth and commitment to orthopaedic innovation.
The CE mark certifies that ReCerf® meets the EU’s stringent safety and performance standards. As the first commercially available ceramic-on-ceramic hip resurfacing device with CE certification, it offers a durable, bone-preserving alternative to traditional hip replacement, with reduced risk of metal ion release – particularly beneficial for active patients. The certification adds to the approval received in November from Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration when ReCerf became the world’s first commercially available all-ceramic hip resurfacing product.
MatOrtho is a UK-based designer and manufacturer of advanced orthopaedic implants headquartered in Leatherhead, Surrey with offices also in Sydney, Australia. In June 2021, Connection Capital clients invested to support the company’s international expansion and product development.
ReCerf joins MatOrtho’s suite of clinically proven products including the SAIPH® Knee and ADEPT® Hip Resurfacing.
