The company

Founded in Cambridge, IQGeo is a global provider of geospatial software solutions for the utilities and telecoms sectors. Its cloud-based, mobile-first platform enables network operators to manage the full lifecycle of their infrastructure – from planning and design through to operations and maintenance.

The company has over 500 customers in 40+ countries, including tier one operators in the utilities and telecoms sectors. With a strong presence in North America, IQGeo has become the industry gold standard for modern network management technology.

IQGeo has scaled rapidly both organically and through acquisition, notably integrating OSPInsight (2020) and Comsof (2022).

Investment rationale

IQGeo operates in attractive end markets supported by strong global tailwinds, including the energy transition, ageing infrastructure, and fibre broadband rollout.

In September 2024 it was taken private in a £334m transaction led by KKR, one of the world’s most successful private equity firms, with support from long-standing shareholder Kestrel. This transaction, and via our relationship with Kestrel, provided Connection Capital clients with rare access to a global, high-growth tech business backed by tier-one investors.

With a clear strategy to scale through increased sales investment and bolt-on acquisitions, IQGeo is well-positioned to act as a consolidator in a fragmented market. The company’s unlevered balance sheet provides ample headroom to execute on its growth plans.
